Tony Forrest

Tony Forrest

Tony has been painting for 25 years and has seen many fascinating and beautiful places. He has been captivated by art since childhood and has always had a love of nature; the two were bound to cross paths sooner or later. He has also been to Germany and Bosnia with the Army Air Corps to research two paintings for them.

Tony has had many paintings published in the UK and has exhibited in some of the most prestigious galleries in the country, including Harrods in London. One of his early exhibitions of wildlife with a much celebrated gallery was an immediate sell-out. His work has hung in the Mall Galleries in London, galleries in Florida, and at the influential Safari Club International Wildlife Convention in Reno, Nevada USA.

Tony travels extensively to Africa, India for research and inspiration. He has seen many species in the wild from tigers in India to mountain gorillas in Central Africa, and, of course, numerous African wildlife parks.

Both wildlife and art have an equal appeal, and marrying the two gives Tony a chance to indulge in his passion; that is to create original art with real feeling and emotion, going beyond the simple message in the picture and creating something to give the viewer an experience in both the beauty of our natural world and one of exciting creativity.

While his paintings do have a fair amount of detail, it is the overall visual impact that Tony is striving for and the art itself will take priority.

Originally from Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, Tony often indulges in plein air painting in Cornwall and sometimes in Africa. By donating paintings, he has raised thousands of pounds over the course of his career by donating paintings to charities including the Born Free Foundation, Africat in Namibia, the Tusk Trust and others. He now lives in Cornwall in the UK and likes to walk and cycle along the Cornish coast near his home.
